Celebrate Nurses Day

Every year National Nurses Day is on May 6th. The celebrated day kicks off National Nurses Week which culminates on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Florence Nightingale was a British nurse during the nineteenth century and is recognized as the founder of modern nursing.

Always a challenging job, nursing became especially harrowing during the COVID 19 pandemic. While the virus raged across the globe, medical workers, especially nurses, were on the front lines caring for the infected. A silver lining from the pandemic is a raised awareness of the dedication and hard work put in by nurses every day.

So how do we say thank you to these heroic medical professionals? There are several ways you can recognize National Nurses Day.

Get the Word Out

Raise awareness of the important work nurses perform and let everyone know there is a national week that celebrates them. Post a word of thanks or a special shout out to a nurse in your life on your socials.

Send A Card

Maybe there’s a nurse at your doctor’s office that always goes above and beyond. Or a special nurse who helped get you through a difficult illness. If you want to go a more personal route than social media, send a handwritten thank you note or card. The gesture is sure to be appreciated!

Drop off bakery goodies, gourmet chocolate or other delicious treats at your local hospital. What a sweet way to say thank you!
